What Burlington Hydro customers should check before plugging in

Burlington Hydro serves more than 69,000 homes and businesses across the city, from Aldershot to the Oakville line and north into the rural area. Besides tiered and time-of-use rates, it offers the province's Ultra-Low Overnight plan, and on that plan the charger is programmed to begin once the overnight rate takes effect, so each session runs at the plan's bottom rate.

The electrical question has two parts. One is amperage: whether the service has enough to spare for the charger once everything else in the house is counted. The other is physical: whether the panel has two free spaces side by side for the double-pole breaker a 240-volt charger needs. We check both, then recommend a charger output the service can carry every night without strain.
